Outdoor Solutions is a vibrant and dynamic indigenous owned business and is one of Far North Queensland’s leading landscape construction and grounds maintenance companies.

Our Story

We are a local Cairns company employing local people and supporting the Cairns economy. Established in 2008, the company has grown steadily in size and now employs a significant workforce.

Our multi-skilled team has an in-depth knowledge, specialised expertise and substantial experience in all aspects of the landscape and garden industries in Far North Queensland. We work closely with some of the leading Landscape Architects and Designers in the region and have the capability to provide high end quality landscape constructions for commercial and residential projects. We also provide complete grounds maintenance services for commercial and residential clients.

We can assist you with landscape planning, design and project management to deliver your project on time and on budget to the highest standards of customer service and quality workmanship. Our management team include registered horticulturists drawing on years of local industry knowledge, continuing professional development and enduring relationships with suppliers and sub-contractors to provide you with a one-stop landscaping solution.

As a successful business we take our commitment to community seriously and take great pleasure in having the means to donate to charities to help those who are less fortunate. Directors Markus and Tiarnie feel that Christmas is a time to be generous and provide hope to others and each year choose to donate to the following charities:

  • Mayor’s Christmas Cheer Appeal
  • Access Housing Adopt a Family for Christmas
  • Special Children’s Christmas Party
  • Salvation Army Red Shield Appeal

In addition to charitable donations, Outdoor Solutions Queensland feels very strongly about supporting sporting clubs in our community. Over the years our sponsorship has increased as the success of the business has increased. We now sponsor several sporting clubs including:

  • Edmonton Storm Junior Rugby League Club – Gold Sponsor
  • Cyclones Junior Netball Club – Silver Sponsor
  • South Cairns Cutters AFL Club – Bronze Sponsor
  • Iron Strength Powerlifting Club – Donation of banner mesh for competitions
  • Athletics – Individual sponsorship of local aspiring indigenous athlete Carlos Clermont who has represented Queensland at the recent Australian National Titles

Outdoor Solutions has steadily grown over the years from humble beginnings as a one-man operation many years ago to now delivering some of the most iconic landscaping projects in Far North Queensland.

 

2018 was an exceptional year for Outdoor Solutions Queensland and Tiarnie in particular, with her hard work and dedication being recognised with a few prestigious achievements:

  • Winner of the CBWC 2018 Indigenous Business Woman of the Year Award;
  • Obtaining a scholarship to attend the Melbourne Business College to participate in the Alumni Murra Indigenous Master Class Program; and
  • Being recognised as one of the 100 Faces of Small Business in Queensland.

 

Through these achievements came valuable business exposure and community recognition. As the winner of the CBWC Indigenous Business Woman of the Year, Tiarnie had the opportunity to give a speech at the CBWC NAIDOC week luncheon themed “Because of Her, We Can!” This gave her the opportunity to overcome her fear of public speaking and to talk about her life and challenges of being an indigenous woman in business in a male dominated industry.

It is quite fitting that the Tiarnie’s recognition and success was mirrored by the exceptional achievement the business experienced in its 10th year of business operations.

Markus Mueller

Managing Director

Markus is a respected leader who is calm and considered under pressure. He has built a reputation as a strong, reliable and focussed professional who is easy to do business with. He is driven, detailed and a quick-thinking strategist who brings enthusiasm and passion to his work and has a strong team who shares his vision and passion for the growth of the business. He has developed enduring relationships with clients, suppliers and sub-contractiors resulting in many repeat business opportunites.

Markus knows and understands that he is only as good as the team he leads and he has invested significant time into training and developing his team to provide the overall customer experience that is expected in a demanding environment. Markus is committed to continually improving Outdoor Solutions as he steers its growth into one of Far North Queensland’s leading landscaping companies.

Tiarnie Mueller

Director / Finance & Administration Manager

Tiarnie is a young local Indigenous business woman born in Babinda, a mother of 3 daughters, a business owner since 2008 and Director/Finance & Administration Manager of her company Outdoor Solutions Queensland.

Throughout her journey Tiarnie has completed a Certificate IV in Small Business Management and has undertaken extensive training in Management and Bookkeeping. These skills have helped Outdoor Solutions to take advantage of strategic business opportunities and provide employment for a diverse background of staff. This has given Tiarnie the passion to be success driven about achieving goals and growth of the business.

Being an Indigenous owned company, it also gives us pride to be able to offer work to our staff, who appreciate their roles in the company. In 2018 Tiarnie has been titled Indigenous Business Woman of the year and Qld Government 100 Faces of Small Business.
